Do I really need an Architect?

Back to Questions
The answer to this question depends on the scope of
your project, your level of sophistication, your
expectations and your goals for your project.

Many jurisdictions require the seal of a registered
Architect and/or Engineer on documents submitted for a
building permit.

Beyond these jurisdictional requirements, if you can
look at a set of plans not just as a "set of plans", not as
just lines on paper, but marvel that someone had to
consciously decide where every line belonged, then you
need an architect.

If you want a project that expresses a strong concept
and whose detailing is consistent with the concept,
inside and out, then you really need an Architect.

If you are able to observe architecture and appreciate
that someone consciously thought about the planning
and every detail, then you really need an Architect.

If you have a desire to build a project tailored to your
specific needs and reflect your unique personality, then
you should seek an architect that can listen, who has
the talent and the expertise to give you what you want.
