Bill May designed this home to take advantage of the unique site on the San Marcos river. The project was planned to be built in phases. Quarters over the garage served as weekend home until the main house was built. The heart of this casual home is a vaulted kitchen/dining/living room with views through porches to both the entry drive and the river. The main space is flanked by the master suite on one side and guest room and office on the other. The generous decks provide ample space for seating and dining. The master bed room and the office as well as the great room have direct access to the rear deck. Split face limestone aggregate concrete block was used for foundation walls, enclosing walk out basement spaces for utilities and storage. Ridge/soffit vents, generous insulation and zoned A/C units make the home efficient to heat and cool, while concrete block, Hardieplank siding, decking and standing seam roof minimize maintenance. |
