The Cleburne Cafeteria is a Houston institution. When it burned in 1992, Bill May designed its new home. The Cleburne is designed to be the best of all worlds, combining an upscale dining experience with good old home cooking. Care was taken to reuse some elements of the old store to make it familiar to some of its loyal customer base of Senior Citizens. At the same time it needed to be fresh and attract the many new families of the surrounding area. The site and budget were limited, so care was taken to insure that each space was planned with efficiency in mind and Bill May employed an interactive design method, with all parties present in active design sessions. |
