This was a protoype for a new concept for a focus group experience unlike anything in the marketplace based on three assumptions:
Interaction in groups is valuable to the process and resulting data.
Clients need to observe the nature of responses and a better view would be beneficial.
Better video would also be beneficial.
The Experience concept would use A/V technology to address these needs. The key element is the “respondent module” containing a monitor, a built-in video camera, a microphone and speakers. Signals are sent real-time to displays in client suites, to displays, or recorded to be edited.
Audio input sensors would direct video from active sources to the display enabling the client to be “in the middle” of the discussion with close-up, high quality audio and video. Clients and respondents can now be located remotely on the same floor, on different floors, in another building or even in another city.
